The Heights by Lisa McGee
Monday 15th June 7pm
£3 all seats.
Lisa McGee's 'The Heights' was originally written for and published by the National Theatre Connections project in 2009. The play shows us the lives of young people brought up on the tower block estates of Britain. Through the eyes of one such person, Lillie Lee, we see just how creative an imagination can be when a person is subject to boredom and isolation. Lillie tells stories. Sometimes they’re funny. Sometimes they’re sad. Sometimes they’re wonderful. Sometimes they’re terrible. But they’re always just stories.
“Lillie wasn’t like most people. Lillie lived here. Here on The Heights estate. There’s never anything to do up here. There’s nothing to do and nowhere to go. We all just sit around waiting for something to happen. It never does. Nothing ever happens on The Heights.”
Performed by West Nottinghamshire College Level 2 Performing Arts students.
