Shakespeare's well known play performed by BA Applied Studies Theatre students from West Nottinghamshire College.

The year is 1938 and the world is on the brink of war. During this time, in the city of Venice, a young gentleman named Bassanio desires a guarantor for a loan of three thousand ducats to court a wealthy heiress from Belmont, named Portia. Bassanio approaches his friend Antonio for help. Antonio's recent ventures have left him short of money so the pair meet with the money lender Shylock, who despises Antonio and his support for the Nazi party. Shylock agrees to a short term loan, grasping his opportunity to exact his revenge upon Antonio and expresses that should the debt not be paid back on time...the forefeit will be a pound of Antonio's flesh. Antoonio agrees to the terms, firmly believing that he will have treble the funds before the debt expires. But all does not sail smoothly...
